The Beginning
...
Mandala Meadery was born from a simple idea: that a great drink should take you somewhere.
In a world of fast production and louder flavors, we chose a quieter path, guided by patience, purpose, and respect for origin. Mead is one of the world’s oldest drinks, created from nature’s simplest elements and time itself. Across cultures, it has been a drink of ritual and reflection, symbolising balance and strength; qualities echoed in Indian mythology through Goddess Durga, the embodiment of harmony between power and preservation.
That balance defines Mandala. We believe in keeping nature as it is while crafting something meaningful making good things that leave the world better than we found it.
This is mead for the curious. For those who value authenticity over excess, and intention over impulse.
The Journey
What began as a simple competition soon grew into Mandala Meadery’s journey of craft and purpose.
Here, the founder shares how it all started, the search for the perfect honey across India, and the making of their first batch. From sourcing in Kashmir to crafting in Nashik, get a closer look at the process, philosophy, and passion behind every bottle.
The Origin
Mead is one of the world’s oldest fermented drinks, rooted in cultures that valued craftsmanship, ritual, and time. Mandala draws from this ancient tradition while reinterpreting it for a modern, global audience.
Our inspiration comes from landscapes that shape flavor—where nature, climate, culture, and human care intersect. Each bottle reflects this philosophy, not just in what’s inside, but in how it’s presented. The label design draws from Mughal-era artistry, echoing the symmetry, restraint, and quiet grandeur of Northern India and the Himalayas. Refined, expressive, and deeply connected to place, every bottle is a reflection of heritage meeting craft.

Ethically Sourced Honey
At the heart of Mandala Mead is honey sourced from the pristine valleys of Kashmir, India; an environment known for its rich floral diversity and natural purity.
We partner with local beekeeping communities who practice responsible, ethical apiculture. The honey is chosen not for volume, but for character, it is harvested with care, respecting both the bees and the land they depend on.
This sourcing approach allows us to preserve the integrity of the honey while supporting livelihoods and biodiversity at the source.
Crafted in Nashik
Once sourced, the honey begins its transformation in Nashik, India’s renowned wine capital.
Here, it is converted into mead through a stringent, small batch fermentation process that balances ancient craft with modern techniques. Time is treated as an ingredient, never rushed, never compromised and always perfect.
The result is a mead that honors nature while impressing the most sophisticated palette.
Our Values
Authenticity
From sourcing to fermentation, every choice is intentional and transparent.
Experience
We create mead as an experience, not a commodity; meant to be discovered, savored, and remembered.
Purpose
Doing good is inseparable from doing things well. Responsibility guides our craft at every step.
Quality
We believe true quality reveals itself quietly, through balance, depth, and consistency.
Our Process
Our process begins with sourcing exceptional honey from Kashmir, where delicate and floral varieties shape our mead’s character. After extensive trials to perfect the recipe, the honey is brought into our winery and carefully prepared in a clean, controlled environment.
Following a winemaking approach, the honey is fermented over weeks, allowing natural flavors to develop into a smooth, balanced profile. Each batch is closely monitored, then hand-filled, corked, and labeled.
From hive to bottle, every step reflects patience, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature and the people behind it.
Sustainability in Action
At Mandala Meadery, responsibility is built into every bottle.
For every purchase, $2 is donated toward supporting sustainable agriculture practices that protect ecosystems, empower bee keeping communities, and encourage long-term environmental stewardship.
This commitment reflects our belief that quality should never come at the cost of the land or the people who care for it. By reinvesting in responsible agriculture, we aim to create a cycle where craftsmanship, community, and sustainability move forward together.
For us, this isn’t charity.
It’s accountability.
